FAQs
How much should I take?
As a general guideline we recommend taking 30g of carbohydrates for every hour of endurance exercise. Each serving of RNWY Salty Carbs provides 30g of carbohydrates plus electrolytes to support hydration.
Why are there multiple sources of carbohydrates?
We use both Non-GMO maltodextrin and Non-GMO fructose because each carbohydrate is absorbed via unique pathways. Maltodextrin is absorbed via the SGLT1 transporter, and fructose utilizes the GLUT5 transporter. Utilizing both pathways allows the carbohydrate sources to be absorbed efficiently without overloading either transporter. More efficient absorption means less undigested carbohydrates sitting in the gut and less GI distress.
Is fructose hard to digest?
In large doses, fructose may be hard for some people to digest. This is why we intentionally include a dual source of carbohydrates in the form of Non-GMO maltodextrin to maximize carbohydrate absorption but not overload your system with fructose.
What is the source of the maltodextrin?
The starting material for our maltodextrin is Non-GMO corn. The corn is hydrolyzed via alpha-amylase enzyme, then concentrated and spray dried into a powder. There are no excipients or carriers.
What is the source of the fructose?
The starting material for our fructose is Non-GMO corn. The corn is treated via enzymatic hydrolysis, then treated with another enzyme called glucose isomerase which converts glucose into fructose. Then the mixture is concentrated and crystallized into a powder. There are no excipients or carriers.
Is Salty Carbs vegan?
