What this actually is

Protein made from yeast. Here's what that means.

Image needed · objection-handler.jpg Fermented, like bread and beer and yogurt. New to protein, not new to food.

Yeast is what makes bread rise and beer ferment. It's one of the oldest processes in food, and RNWY uses that same process to grow protein.

That matters because of where the other two options come from. Whey is made from milk, which is exactly why it sits badly with so many people. Pea and rice are grown in soil, and both are short on amino acids your body can't produce on its own.

Fermented yeast protein avoids both problems at once. You get all 9 essential amino acids, and there's no dairy in it for your stomach to deal with.

What our customers say

"As a scientist and an athlete, this one excites me"

Not only does it help me reach my daily protein goals more easily, it is yeast based, which as a scientist makes me so excited, and as an athlete ensures me I am getting high quality protein even when using powder. I would highly recommend integrating it into your training and recovery routine.

"Tried many, this one may be the best"

Taste, texture, and trust. I'm on my third order now and will keep coming. I've tried other yeast products and a bunch of the pea-based products. RNWY has done a great job here.

All 9 essential amino acids

The one thing whey got right, kept intact

In every scoop

  • Histidine
  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine Repair signal
  • Lysine
  • Methionine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Threonine
  • Tryptophan
  • Valine

Essential amino acids are the building blocks of protein your body can't make on its own, so they have to come from what you eat. There are 9 of them.

Whey has all 9, and that's the real reason it became the default for so long.

Most plant proteins don't. Pea runs low on one, rice runs low on another, and blends try to patch the gap with mixed results. That's the tradeoff people make when they switch to plant protein, and most of them never realize they made it.

RNWY has all 9, including leucine, the one that signals your muscles to start repairing. Switching away from dairy doesn't have to cost you anything.

What our customers say

"The full amino profile, and it tastes so good"

I didn't realize that most plant based protein powders on the market were missing the complete amino acid profile until listening to a running podcast. As I'm navigating injury right now as a very committed marathon runner, protein goals are a new focus of mine. When I tried this product I was not only excited it had the full profile, but it tastes so dang good.

Nothing here to fight your stomach

Two reasons this goes down easier

There's no dairy in it.

Whey is made from milk, and milk contains lactose, a sugar that most adults gradually lose the ability to fully digest. RNWY has no dairy at all, so there's nothing there to react to in the first place.

It comes with digestive enzymes.

Every scoop includes 150mg of enzymes, which are natural compounds that break protein down for you. Your stomach ends up doing less of the work itself.

RNWY is also Low FODMAP certified by Monash University. FODMAPs are a group of carbs that trigger bloating and discomfort in people with sensitive stomachs, and Monash is the university that identified them and built the testing standard the rest of the industry uses. That certification comes from them, not from us, which means it isn't a brand grading its own homework.

What our customers say

"10/10 product that doesn't upset my stomach"

This product is a life changer. Due to FODMAP and fructan issues my body hasn't been able to handle other protein powders well. This one gives me zero issues. And it's delicious.

Creatine is already in it

One less product to buy and remember

The usual way

Protein tub, plus a separate creatine tub. Two scoops, two reorders, two things to remember.

With RNWY

5g creatine monohydrate in every scoop of protein. One bag.

Creatine is one of the most researched supplements available, and most people buy it as a separate tub and add a scoop on top of their protein shake.

RNWY includes 5g of creatine monohydrate in every scoop. That's the full amount used in the research, not a token amount added so it can appear on the label.

One scoop covers both. Nothing else to measure, nothing else to reorder.

What our customers say

"Two products in one"

I'm all about simplifying and love that I can take two products in one with this creatine protein powder. It tastes great and dissolves easily.

"My training runs and lifts have noticeably improved"

This is definitely a protein plus creatine combo I can get behind. I've been taking it regularly about mid morning, and my performance in my training runs and strength training lifts has noticeably improved. I don't have to buy two supplements or think about how I fit them into my macros for the day, it's combined into one bag instead of a giant container.

What it tastes like

It's thicker than you'd expect, and that's the honest version

It sits well with me, no stomach issues, and you can tell it's a high quality product. The only thing I'd point out is the texture, a bit on the thicker side if you don't add enough liquid. Adding a little more water helps a lot. Overall, great protein, easy on digestion.

Jorge S. Review for RNWY Complete Protein · RNWY Online Store

The most common note in our reviews is that it comes out thicker than people were expecting on the first try. Add a bit more water and it thins out to whatever consistency you like.

What you won't find is grit at the bottom of the bottle, chalky texture, or the artificial aftertaste that comes with sucralose and stevia. Chocolate and Vanilla, both naturally flavored.

How to use it

  • 01

    Scoop

One scoop is about 43g, roughly a third of a cup.

  • 02

    Mix

Water, milk, or straight into whatever shake you already make. A shaker bottle works, a blender works better if you want it smoother.

  • 03

    Drink

Before training or after, whenever fits your day. There's no timing window you need to hit.

Who this is for

This is probably you if

  • You drink whey and your stomach doesn't love it
  • You moved to plant protein and just found out it's missing amino acids
  • You're buying protein and creatine as two separate products
  • You're lactose intolerant, or you just feel better without dairy
  • You have a sensitive stomach and most powders end up being a gamble
  • You're curious what a third kind of protein actually tastes like

This probably isn't you if

Your current whey sits fine and you have no interest in changing anything. That's a completely reasonable place to be. RNWY is built for people who want something the two usual options can't give them at the same time.

What you'll notice first

  • It mixes clean, with nothing gritty settling at the bottom
  • No artificial sweetener aftertaste, because there aren't any in it
  • Your creatine is handled, so that's one less container on the shelf
  • No dairy in it at all, so there's nothing for your stomach to work around

How people actually use it

  • Week one

    Try a scoop

Mix a scoop and see how it tastes and how it sits. Most people drink it right after training.

  • Week two

    Swap it in

Swap it in for whatever shake you were making before. Same routine, different bag.

  • Week three

    Skip the reorder

Skip your next creatine reorder, because it's already in every scoop.

Questions

What is fermented yeast protein?

It's protein grown through fermentation, the same natural process behind bread, beer, and yogurt. It isn't dairy and it isn't grown in soil, which makes it a third category rather than a version of either one.

Will it taste like yeast?

No. It comes in Chocolate and Vanilla, both naturally flavored.

Is it vegan?

Yes, 100% vegan with no animal products.

Is it really a complete protein?

Yes. It has all 9 essential amino acids, including leucine, which is the one that signals your muscles to start repairing. That's the same completeness whey is known for.

Why not just use whey?

Whey is complete, but it's made from milk. If dairy bothers your stomach, that's the reason why. RNWY gives you the same completeness with no dairy involved.

Why not just use pea or rice protein?

Those are dairy free, but most of them are short on one or more essential amino acids. RNWY isn't missing any.

Do I still need to buy creatine?

No. Every scoop already has 5g of creatine monohydrate, which is the full amount used in research.

What if I have a sensitive stomach?

It's Low FODMAP certified by Monash University, the institution that created the FODMAP standard, and every scoop includes 150mg of digestive enzymes to help break it down.

How many servings come in a bag?

21 servings.

One scoop, everything in it

I went with the chocolate flavor, and it's pretty good, though not as rich or creamy as some dairy-based proteins. The flavor is mild and natural, with no artificial aftertaste, which I appreciate. It works well mixed with almond milk or in smoothies. At around $50 for a 1lb tub it's priced slightly above average, but considering the clean ingredients and nutritional profile, I think it's a fair price. A solid all-around protein for a plant-based athlete or anyone looking to reduce dairy.

It's ok, worth a try

I tried this protein bc I'm a vegetarian runner and appreciate this brand made something specific to us. It's cool that it includes creatine — that's a rare and thoughtful addition that many athletes will value. After trying it: not having a scoop made measuring servings a bit tricky, the flavor tasted a bit too manufactured, and the texture wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped. I really appreciate that it's vegan and includes creatine, but not sure I'll include it in my protein drink rotation.
